Literature Text

There was always something more to you
than naturally tiny bones
and wafer thin skin
stretched as tight as it will go around your body
almost as if it were trying it’s hardest
to hold you together.
I often wondered
if your often flushed complexion
was a product of excitement
or inward panic.

Saved by the intervention of
angels and saints
dressed in nurses costumes
tending to stomach sores and ulcers
and those fingers that have become so friendly
with the back of your throat.
You said,
if it were up to you,
you would let it kill you.

But your words were never spoken
with resentment as much
as they were with abandoned hope.

Full to the brim with contrasting emotions
you are a bomb that could
drop at any time
with enough force to destroy an
entire human life.
And contrariwise
to save one from utter obliteration.
Though I fear you will never
realize how much of an impact
you make.

Any sort of thought one may have
that aids in the act of self-destruction
or the urge to finish yourself off
seems utterly ridiculous
once you have witnessed an angel so
close to the sky but still
walking on earth.
I wrote this about a close friend who suffers from bulemia. I love her dearly and I hope to God that she gets better...

The title in English is "Earth's only angel", I think I got the correct French but I'm not sure.

You have just explained my entire life. It was beautiful.
